I urge you to watch this video, which I will supply a link to and tell me that we do not have and enemy. This is rather disturbing, though, it should not come as a surprise.

Are Al Gore and the Global Warming Crew Traitors?
Simple enough question, right? Of course not. But in my opinion it is a valid one. I'm not going to get into the scientific debate, suffice it to say, "that is above my pay grade." What I do know, however, is a bit of history. That history has taught me that the earth passes through periods of warming and periods of cooling. Are these disastrous to the planet? Absolutely not. In fact, warm periods are far better for the populace than cool periods. Take, for example, the medieval warm period, also known as "the little renaissance."
During this period, crops grew better, people were more successful and prosperous, allowing for enough of a surplus of agriculture to advance society. Do you know what killed the little renaissance? If you guessed global cooling you win a prize. The period of global cooling (also known as the little ice age) saw the population of medieval decline drastically. Were either of these events human induced? Of course not. It would be absolutely preposterous to suggest such. Did humans cause the last ice age? Again, no, obviously not.
So why do we seems so hellbent on claiming this new period of warming as our own doing? Whether the world truly is cooling or not isn't even proved beyond a doubt. So why all the uproar?
Dollar, dollar bill, y'all, as Wycliffe Jean would probably say. Yes, money. If you haven't yet discovered that their is green to be made on green you've got your head buried in the sand. That is a fact. Let's take, for example, climatologists. Who are they? Well, most of them are academics, working at universities and funding their research with Federal grant money. No money, no research. Easy enough to understand.
But how do they get their money? Well, they need something to research, preferably something important. What's more important than the utter destruction of planet earth? Not much I'd guess. So they whip people into a frenzy with talk and press releases of dying polar bears and melting glaciers, despite the fact that they know better than anyone else that glaciers wax and wain cyclically. Now they have a terrified populace, misinformed and misguided, writing their congressmen to send more money to green technology and climatological research. Mission accomplished.
Now, let's take a look at Mr. Gore. Former Vice President Al Gore lost the 2000 election (yes, I said lost) to George Bush and rode out of D.C. looking broken and shamed. Al Gore left Washington disgraced and bitter, he was irrelevant. Until he put out a little film called, "An Inconvenient Truth." Now this movie was a nice little piece of fiction, far more interesting than "The Day After Tomorrow," though their credibility levels are on par. This made Mr. Gore quite a lot of money (gasp). Nobody ever said the man was stupid, after all. Not only did this make Al some serious bank, it also brought him back into the public eye. It made the once irrelevant and bitter politician into a relevant, though still bitter, politician. Not only this, but it made George Bush (one can only imagine the level of contempt that Al holds W. in) look like a bumbling idiot with no regard for "our Mother Earth." Frankly, I'm a bit surprised that Jon Stewart wasn't more upset by this, as he tried pretty hard to make George look like a stooge as well. But anyway, back on point, suddenly in rides the former Vice President of the United States, once dejected, on his silver stallion ready to put his own self interests aside to save us Joe Six Packs from ourselves. With him came tales of doom and gloom, unsubstantiated, yet very scary, of twenty foot sea level rises and the flooding of New York City. Who wouldn't at least listen to that?
The problem is, it is little more than a racket. Is their some science involved? Yeah, there may be. Is the earth's temperature rising? Maybe. But is their any evidence that this is human induced, and even if it is, is it fixable? The flat answer is that there is not. But if it's not human induced and fixable, there is little cause to do anything more than worry about it, ergo, no huge gains in Federal money for climatologists or increased influence for politicians (not to mention, it doesn't make George W. Bush look as dumb). In and of itself, who cares, right? So maybe it's not true, but we might as well fight it just in case, no?
Of course we should do all we can to take care of the Earth. It's a beautiful resource that we must be careful to maintain, not only for it's natural beauty, but also to sustain it's resources. That doesn't mean that we should be chasing ghouls and shadows, however, and here is why.
There are real issues in this world. Issues that are not up for debate. The global economy is in shambles, the average tax payer is in debt, and the horizon only looks stormier. Fighting global warming is not only foolish in an ideological and scientific sense, but it's also extremely careless financially. The economy is simply not prepared for any major changes in energy sources at present. Am I saying that we should completely abandon our search for cleaner, more efficient, and renewable sources of energy? No, I am not. Believe it or not, I am not "against" science, nor am I "against" protecting our environment. The trouble is, we must move forward in a conscious manner, and we must stay balanced.
What the left wishes to do is capitalize of our current financial crisis to pass into law their longstanding wish list, which, until now, seemed impossible. But with the prospect of $850 BILLION of new government spending, suddenly, their bucket list is within reach. And believe me, this list is not a moderate list. This is a far left, socialist agenda which poses a huge risk to our financial well being. Barack Obama himself is on record saying that he is willing to bankrupt the coal industry. Take the time to look up exactly what percentage of our national energy supply comes from coal and then leave a comment telling me that this is a good idea. I'll commend you for your brass, if nothing else (and believe me, there will be NOTHING else).
So that brings me back to the original question. Are these climate change mongers traitors? I hate to throw the "t" word around callously, but anyone who is willing to put their own prosperity and well being at the forefront of our nation's agenda, knowing full well that they are spinning nothing but bologna, is a traitor. This is especially true of those holding public office. Pandering to voters is not worth ruining our economy (yes, I'm talking to you John McCain). This is simply and unspeakable act of selfishness, which puts Kenneth Lay to shame in it's veracity. To rob the American people of billions of hard earned dollars to pad the pockets of special interests is wrong, especially when those dollars are going to nothing more than chasing shadows. Perhaps you should consider the hypocrisy of trashing on corporate big wigs the next time you jump in your private jet to tell me to drive less, Mr. Gore. Oh, and you might want to think for a second about the "global cooling" scare a few years ago. How does that panic look in hindsight? Just saying.

Michael Crichton's Take on Global Warming
http://www.crichton-official.com/speech-ourenvironmentalfuture.html
An interesting take on global warming by author Michael Crichton. I'd like to post a full text version for convenience, but the formatting is incorrect (not to mention I am fully aware that nobody reads my blog). But anyway, there it is if you stumble through.

Statement of Beliefs
I believe in God, the creator of the universe, and in his son, Jesus Christ.
I believe in family, and the conservation of the family unit in America.
I believe that marriage can only ever be the union of one man and one woman.
I believe in Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
I believe in the individual liberty to pursuit ones own measure of happiness.
I believe in small government.
I believe that charity is the way to aid the less fortunate, not government social programs.
I believe that big government is ineffective, wasteful, and inherently corrupt.
I believe that most politicians have noble aims, though I often disagree with the way they pursuit them and I believe some of them fall victim to their own ambitions.
I believe that the Separation of Church and State was intended to prevent the government from setting up a state religion, like the Anglican Church, not to remove God from public life.
I believe that life begins at conception.
I believe that the Earth warms and cools cyclically, and that man has a minimal impact on climate, though I also believe men should be good stewards of the beauty that God has gifted us.
I believe that a democracy is the sum of it's people and is in constant danger from forces within.

Compare the philosophies expressed by President Obama during his campaign to his proposed stimulus bill. No, really, watch the video with the stimulus in mind, it would be quite funny if it wasn't so depressing.

Welcome
Welcome to the inaugural blog at King Obama's Court. Here, should I find the time and energy to do so, you will find a variety of interesting topics and article links, mostly dealing in politics, but beware of the possibility that come baseball season this space may well become flooded in Red Sox related regalia.
Here is a bit about myself. I proudly reside in Maine as I have my entire life (with the exception of a year and a half stint in a Massachusetts college). I am a member of the United States Navy Delayed Entry Program and I leave for boot camp on 18 Feb. After graduation in April, I will be returning to New England for submarine school, which is in Groton, CT.
I am a huge span of New England sports. The Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Maine hockey, and Maine baseball are my primary interests, though the Bruins are in the mix as well, along with Boston College football and basketball, and Maryland basketball.
Now that you know a bit about the Conservative in King Obama's Court, let's get to some seriousness, shall we?
